nice-vs-psgHaving suffered two successive setbacks, Paris Saint-Germain will be under pressure ahead of the top-of-the-table clash against leaders Nice.

Les Aiglons have been absolutely brilliant in the opening exchanges, but they will only be regarded as serious title contenders if they can match holders PSG.

The Saints have shown plenty of weaknesses this season and currently occupy third place in the league standings, which is quite disappointing by their standards.

Their five-match winning run in the league came to an abrupt end as PSG were hammered 3-0 by Montpellier, allowing Nice and Monaco to get away in the standings.

The Saints have since missed an excellent opportunity to finish top of their Champions League group, having narrowly escaped defeat at home to Ludogorets, and it is clear they are going through a rough patch at the moment.

And even though they have been made 1.36 (4/11) favourites to see off les Aiglons, we wouldn’t dream backing them at such a low price.

Unai Emery surprised everyone by giving his players two days off after the Ludogorets setback, but that might just prove a very good decision.

The boss still has doubts over the fitness of Javier Pastore and Adrien Rabiot, and the duo looks set to miss out, but Marco Verratti is back from suspension.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Areola – Aurier, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Kurzawa – Motta, Verratti, Matuidi – Lucas Moura, Cavani, Di Maria.

Without a doubt, Nice are enjoying the most successful campaign since winning the last of their four Ligue 1 trophies in 1959, as they lead the title chase after 16 fixtures.

Buoyed by the arrival of Mario Balotelli, Younes Belhanda, Dante and Wylan Cyprien in the summer, les Aiglons have surprisingly nominated themselves as serious title contenders with some remarkable performances in the opening exchanges.

Following back to back wins over Guingamp and Toulouse, Nice sit four points clear of their next opponents, meaning that they could seriously improve their title hopes with a good result at Parc des Princes.

Les Aiglons have been pretty impressive on the road of late, winning five of seven away fixtures in the league, and they are 9.00 (8/1) shot to see off PSG as well.

The good news is that Mario Balotelli has returned from a lengthy injury-lay off and he is widely expected to start on Sunday evening.

Maxime Le Marchand is also back, but Valentin Eysseric is set to miss around six weeks due to a knee ligament injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Cardinale – Pereira, Dante, Sarr, Dalbert Henrique – Seri, Cyprien, Walter – Plea, Balotelli, Belhanda.
