PSG vs MonacoLast year’s title rivals sit far away from the Ligue 1 summit at the moment, but the clash at Parc des Princes will be a perfect opportunity for one of the sides to kick-start their season.

The Saints are definitely in better mood having defeated Barcelona in midweek, while Monaco recorded a good result as well seeing as how they held Zenit to a goalless draw in Russia.

Paris Saint-Germain are the only unbeaten side in Ligue 1 after eight rounds of fixtures, but they currently trail leaders Marseille by five points.

The Saints have suffered too many slip-ups in the opening exchanges, sharing spoils with Reims, Evian, Rennes, Lyon and Toulouse, and they will have to stabilise their form if they want to keep up with OM.

Injuries to star players Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi certainly did not help, although Laurent Blanc’s charges overcame all problems to record a 3-2 victory over Barcelona in midweek that is likely to serve as a major confidence boost.

As a result, PSG players will be feeling confident ahead of the derby game against Monaco, where home win pays 1.50 (1/2) with Betfair.

Ibrahimovic, Silva and Lavezzi continue to miss out, while Marquinhos has been added to the infirmary having suffered a thigh problem.

Laurent Blanc is expected to make several chances to the side that faced Barcelona, although misfiring Edinson Cavani should continue up front.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Sirigu – Aurier, Luiz, Camara, Digne – Verratti, Cabaye, Matuidi – Lucas Moura, Cavani, Pastore.

This season is proving that Monaco could be remembered as a one-season wonder, with the Principality club unable to repeat some impressive displays from last term.

That is hardly surprising considering that the likes of Falcao, James, Obbadi, Abidal and Riviere are no longer at the club, although several quality players did arrive.

Monaco had a pretty poor start to the league campaign, losing four of first eight matches and they are currently positioned in the bottom half of the standings.

Oddly enough, Leonardo Jardim’s charges have been pretty convincing in the Champions League, defeating Benfica before sharing spoils with Zenit away.

But, with Paris Saint-Germain slowly returning to their best, there is no value in betting on away win at odds of 8.00 (7/1).

The visitors also face serious selection problems given that Jeremy Toulalan, Dimitar Berbatov, Aymen Abdennour, Borja Lopez and Lacina Traore are all unavailable.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Subasic – Fabinho, Raggi, Carvalho, Kurzawa – Moutinho, Bakayoko, Kondogbia – Dirar, Ferreira Carrasco, Ocampos.
