Norway vs SwedenNext door neighbours Norway and Sweden will square off at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, with Monday’s match serving as the final warm-up game for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Per-Mathias Hogmo’s charges enjoyed a pretty good start to the current qualifying campaign despite being placed in the same group as Italy, Croatia and Bulgaria, among other teams.

Norway did lose the opening match to Italy, but then went on to record wins over Malta, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan to climb to third in the standings.

They then suffered a 5-1 defeat to Croatia, which seriously damaged their hopes of clinching automatic qualifying berth, but the Nordic side remain favourites for the play-off spot.

Norway will have a perfect opportunity to return to winning ways when they host Azerbaijan on Friday, but they will first be facing neighbours Sweden in an ill-timed international friendly on Monday.

Due to their club commitments, the likes of Alexander Soderlund, Pal Andre Helland, Stefan Strandberg and Andre Hansen will not be in contention for the Sweden game.

Midfielders Harmeet Singh and Jone Samuelsen are out injured, joining Valon Berisha and Sten Grytebust on the sidelines, so no wonder home win pays as much as 3.00 (2/1).

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Nyland – Hogli, Forren, Nordtveit, Linnes – Skjelbred, Johansen, Tettey, Daehli – Odegaard – King.

Sweden had a mixed start to the Euro 2016 qualifiers in a very strong group, but they can be quite satisfied with the results up to date.

While defeating minnows Moldova and Liechtenstein, Erik Hamren’s men shared spoils with top 2 rivals Austria, Russia and Montenegro, playing just one of those three matches at home.

The home clash against Montenegro, scheduled for Sunday, will serve as another opportunity to edge closer to a place at the tournament finals, although Sweden will also want to do well when facing Norway.

With Sweden’s elite division in full swing and some players set to join the Under-21 side ahead of the European championships, coach Erik Hamren will only have 15 outfield players at his disposal for Monday’s enounter.

The likes of Andreas Granqvist, Mikael Antonsson and Isaac Kiese Thelin are set to miss out through injury, with Markus Holgersson called as replacement.

Having defeated their neighbours 4-2 last time out, Sweden have been made 2.60 (8/5) favourites to emerge victorious in Oslo.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Isaksson – Bengtsson, Nilsson, Olsson, Wendt – Larsson, Ekdal, Kallstrom, Zengin – Ibrahimovic, Berg.
