Fresh from the Champions League defeat to Arsenal, Montpellier continue their Ligue 1 campaign by playing host to Saint Etienne, who arrive at Stade de la Mosson on the back of a home defeat to Sochaux.

MHSC produced quite a coup by winning the league title last term, which saw them qualify for Champions League group stages, but Rene Girard’s men have yet to start playing to their potential this season.

Following the opening draw against Toulouse, la Paillade have lost four of their last five games in all competitions, which clearly suggests they are far from desired form at the moment.

The Ligue 1 champions did show some improvement in the Champions League clash against Arsenal, even if that did not prove enough for a positive result.

MHSC can, nonetheless, take some heart from that performance, so you should know BetVictor has top price for home win, paying 2.30 (13/10).

Boss Rene Girard has no fresh injury worries, but John Utaka continues to miss out after picking up an injury in the 3-1 defeat to Reims.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Jourdren – Bocaly, Yanga-Mbiwa, Hilton, Bedimo – Estrada, Saihi – Mounier, Belhanda, Cabella – Camara.

The poor finish of the previous league campaign ended up costing Saint Etienne the European qualification and the team started the new championship in similar manner.

Opening defeats to Lille and Toulouse hinted les Verts could be in for a very difficult season, but comfortable wins over Brest and Bastia acted as major confidence boosts.

The international break seem to have had a negative effect on the squad as Saint Etienne were beaten at home by Sochaux and now it’s up to them to try and make amends against tired Montpellier.

Having scored three goals in their last away fixture, les Verts are 1.50 (1/2) with Stan James to score at least once at Stade de la Mosson.

Wonderkid defender Kurt Zouma continues to miss out with a knee problem, while Ismael Diomande is out with a muscle strain. Jonathan Brison is suspended.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Ruffier – Bayal, Perrin, Mignot, Ghoulam – Lemoine, Clement – Hamouma, Cohade, Gradel – Aubameyang.
