Monaco vs St EtienneLigue 1 high flyers Monaco will be looking to make amends for the 3-1 loss to Toulouse when they play host to struggling Montpellier on Friday evening.

La Paillade finally ended a barren run by defeating Caen and they will now be aiming to put a dent into Monaco’s title hopes.

Monaco are on the road to establish themselves as one of France’s top sides and they continue to do well in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

The Principality club currently occupy the third place in the league standings, level on points with star-studded Paris Saint-Germain and they are very much in the title chase.

The team have also impressed in the Champions League, climbing to the top of Group E with five points from three matches, and they stand a good chance of making the knockout stages.

After holding CSKA Moscow to a 1-1 draw, Monaco shift their focus back to the league campaign, where they need to try and banish the memory of a 3-1 loss to Toulouse.

And having previously hammered Metz 7-0 on the road, Leonardo Jardim’s charges can be backed at 1.73 (8/11) to pile more misery on Montpellier.

Star striker Radamel Falcao remains doubtful after suffering a concussion against Nice a month ago, and he will undergo new tests on Thursday.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Subasic – Sidibe, Glik, Jemerson, Mendy – Fabinho, Bakayoko – Lemar, Germain, Bernardo Silva – Carrillo.

Montpellier have come a long way since the incredible title winning season of 2011/2012, but not necessarily in a good way as they have really fallen from grace.

Even if they have been on a constant downtrend since the amazing success, this could prove their most difficult season yet as the relegation dogfight is now a realistic possibility.

A seven-match winless run that followed the opening triumph over Angers put la Paillade in a very difficult situation, as they were in danger of slipping into the bottom three, but the team produced a very good response.

Montpellier went on to beat relegation rivals Caen, scoring the winner with ten men on the pitch, showing a great deal of character in the process.

The team now face a tough task against very good Monaco side, and they will have to make do without Steve Mounie, who is suspended.

The likes of Congre, Hilton, Fito, Remy and Marveaux miss out through injury, meaning that coach Frederic Hantz is in all sorts of problems.

Probable starting line-up (4-5-1): Jourdren – Vanden Borre, Skhiri, Saint-Ruf, Roussillon – Ninga, Boudebouz, Sylla, Sessegnon, Sanson – Camara.
