Lyon vs MonacoAfter edging even closer to the Ligue 1 summit thanks to the 4-0 hammering of Bordeaux, Monaco aim to place extra pressure on their title rivals by defeating revived Lyon.

Les Gones have now won five of last six league fixtures and they will see the game at Stade Louis II as an opportunity to kick-start their title bid.

Nice’s impressive rise to stardom is the reason why Monaco have been flying under the radar this season, but that no longer seems possible.

The Principality club have been so impressive this term that they have become a force to be reckoned with in both France and Europe, producing some scintillating displays in the process.

While topping their Champions League group, Monaco have now leapfrogged holders Paris Saint-Germain in the league standings, and they sit just one point behind leaders Nice.

Having won five of last six league fixtures, scoring 22 goals and conceding none in those five wins, they look a good bet at 1.91 (10/11) to see off Lyon.

After bagging 10 goals in first 11 league outings of the season, we can now safely say that Radamel Falcao is back to his best and there are no doubts he will make life difficult for les Gones defenders.

Monaco welcomes back Fabinho from suspension, meaning that Leonardo Jardim will again have fully fit squad to select from.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Subasic – Sidibe, Glik, Jemerson, Mendy – Bernardo Silva, Fabinho, Bakayoko, Lemar – Germain, Falcao.

With Nice, Monaco and Lyon all playing great football of late, French Ligue 1 has become incredibly interesting competition.

It’s been quite a while since les Gones dominated the elite division in France, but in spite of some financial problems, the Parc OL outfit seem determined to prove the doubters wrong.

The shocking start to the new season is now behind them, and team’s latest performances have left little to the imagination.

The excellent display in the Champions League clash with Sevilla did not prove enough to secure a place in the next stage, as the Europa League holders somehow weathered the storm and held les Gones to a goalless draw.

However, Lyon have won five of last six Ligue 1 matches, losing only to star-studded Paris Saint-Germain, and they will now attempt to extend the excellent run against red-hot Monaco.

While Mathieu Valbuena has rediscovered his form, Emanuel Mamman could again miss out, but Christoph Jallet has returned into action.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Lopes – Rafael, Yanga-Mbiwa, Diakhaby, Morel – Ferri, Gonalons, Tolisso – Ghezzal, Lacazette, Valbuena.
