Marcelo BielsaArgentina coach Marcelo Bielsa has decided to resign from the post as Marseille boss after his side lost the opening game of the season to Caen.

El Loco’s future at Stade Velodrome had been in doubt since the end of the previous campaign, but it recently looked as though he would be signing a new deal after all.

However, with the club chiefs failing to fulfil their promises, Bielsa ultimately decided to quit, announcing his resignation at a press conference.

“I have finished my work here, I will return to my country,” Bielsa said after the 1-0 home loss to Caen.

The highly rated coach has been tipped to take over the reigns at the Mexico national team after Miguel Herrera was sacked despite winning the 2015 Gold Cup.

Following the opening loss to Caen, Marseille are no less than 33.00 (32/1) to lift the Ligue 1 title for the first time since 2010.
