Wednesday evening’s game at Old Trafford sees Manchester United face Sunderland in the second leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final.

The Premier League champions currently trail the Black Cats by two goals to one, after losing at the Stadium of Light two weeks ago.

That defeat was one of four that David Moyes’ side have suffered in the opening three weeks of this calendar year, and another hear will seriously threaten the Scot’s chances of landing a trophy in his first season in charge.

United are out of the FA Cup, fourteen points adrift of leaders Arsenal in the Premier League, and behind no fewer than eight teams in the market for the Champions League.

They will be without Nemanja Vidic for this evening’s match, as the Serbian begins a three match suspension following his red card at Stamford Bridge at the weekend while fellow defender Patrice Evra is doubtful after being substituted with a knee injury in the same game.

Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney are also set to miss out once again, so Danny Welbeck is expected to keep his place leading the line.

The England international is 5.5 (9/2) with Ladbrokes to get the first goal of the game ahead of Adnan Januzaj, who is an 8.0 (7/1) shot with Paddy Power.

The hosts are 1.33 (1/3) with most firms to win the match, with Sunderland as highly priced as the 11.0 (10/1) on offer from Stan James, who offer 5.5 (9/2) for the draw.

Gus Poyet’s side go into the game on a four match unbeaten run, though they remain in the Premier League relegation zone, second from bottom, a point behind seventeenth place Fulham.

Steven Fletcher is a doubt with an Achilles injury, with Kieren Westwood and Carlos Cuellar also ruled out.

Fabio Borini is widely available at 17.0 (16/1) to open the scoring, while Adam Johnson, who has five goals in his last four games, can be backed at 21.0 (20/1).

The North East club are priced at 3.0 (2/1) with Bet Victor to qualify for the final at Wembley on March 2nd, with United odds on favourites despite trailing at 1.4 (2/5) with most bookmakers.
