Juventus vs Fiorentina preview

Juventus slipped from the Serie A summit as they couldn’t beat Genoa and the Bianconeri will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Fiorentina on Tuesday.

Boosted by the heavy summer recruitment, the Old Lady started the season brightly, beating Parma and Siena in their opening games.

Disappointing draws against Bologna and Catania were neutralized with an impressive victory over Serie A champions Milan, but that would prove to be their only notable result in five games.

Juventus have again started to exhibit the weaknesses that cost them dearly last term, having failed to beat Genoa despite leading twice, and that was the second game this season in which the Bianconeri failed to hold on to the lead, having done the same at home to Bologna.

Things are not alarming just yet as Juve are just two points behind leaders Udinese and in front of their title rivals, but a win over Fiorentina is a must if the team are to stay on the right track. Bet365 pays 1.73 (8/11) on home win.

We are unlikely to see big changes to the starting line-up as Gianluigi Buffon remain sidelined, but Antonio Conte is hoping Arturo Vidal will recover in time to face Fiorentina.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Storari – Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini – Krasic, Pirlo, Marchisio, Pepe – Matri, Vucinic.

Fiorentina started the season well, winning their first two home games and losing only to very good Udinese side, but things have soon started taking the wrong turn.

Despite outplaying Napoli at San Paolo, Viola had to settle for one point, but they failed to build on that performance, having lost at home to Lazio.

After bringing one point from Cesena as well, Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side had a great chance to return to winning ways against Catania, but they, just like Juventus, couldn’t win at home despite twice taking the lead.

The fans are already calling for coach Mihajlovic to resign as they want to see Fiorentina fighting for European places, and a good performance at Juventus Arena would certainly help the players take some pressure off their backs.

Viola did lose just one of their three away games, but they have yet to score on the travels, so odds of 2.30 (13/10) with Paddy Power offered on Fiorentina not to score do look tempting.

Sinisa Mihajlovic is expected to make some changes to the starting line-up, since Ricardo Montolivo is suspended and Alberto Gilardino has recovered from injury.

Right-back Mattia Cassani remains a doubt, while Stevan Jovetic should start as a centre forward, with Cerci and Vargas on the wings.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Boruc – De Silvestri, Gamberini, Natali, Pasqual – Munari, Behrami, Lazzari – Cerci, Jovetic, Vargas.
