Hamburg vs Bayern Munich preview

Boosted by the away win over Augsburg, Hamburger SV will be hoping to inflict Bayern Munich their second successive defeat, with the Bvarians hoping to make amends for the home loss to Bayer Leverkusen.

During the past few years, Hamburg had earned a tag of terrible underperformers, but it appears they are slowly changing their fortunes.

The Red Shorts did well to sign the likes of Adler, Rudnevs, Scharner, Jiracek and Badelj in the summer, but the return of one Rafael van der Vaart was clearly their best piece of business.

It was the Dutchman who inspired the team to pick up 13 points from last 6 games, after they had opened the league campaign with three straight defeats.

With his habit of scoring goals against Bayern Munich in mind, the playmaker can be backed at 5.00 (4/1) at Ladbrokes to score in this match as well.

On the other hand, Hamburger are no less than 9.50 (17/2) with BetVictor to record their first home win over Bayern after four games.

Apart from Petr Jiracek, who is out through injury, boss Thorsten Fink will have fully fit squad to choose from.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Adler – Diekmeier, Mancienne, Westermann, Jansen – Rincon, Badelj – Son, Van der Vaart, Arslan – Rudnevs.

Given that the third unsuccessful title push in Bundesliga would be close to a disaster for Bayern Munich, nobody was really surprised to see the Bavarians significantly reinforce their squad during off season.

Once again, Jupp Heynckes’ side enjoyed a memorable start to the league campaign, winning eight straight games, but their amazing run came to an abrupt end as they were beaten at home by Bayer Leverkusen last weekend.

That is hardly going to be a cause for concern considering that Bayern are still four points clear of second-placed Schalke and nine points in front of reigning champions Borussia Dortmund.

Even so, a win over Hamburg would be a perfect confidence boost at the moment, so bear in mind that SkyBet pays 1.36 (9/25) on away win.

Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery have returned into action, but Holger Badstuber, Mario Gomez and Daniel van Buyten are all out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Alaba – Gustavo, Schweinsteiger – Muller, Kroos, Ribery – Mandzukic.
