Granit XhakaBorussia M’gladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury in the Bundesliga clash against Bayern Munich.

The Swiss international tore a ligament and capsule in his right ankle during yesterday’s goalless draw against the Bavarians, but he remained on the pitch until the end as Lucien Favre had made all three substitutions.

Borussia M’gladbach confirmed the injury and revealed Xhaka would miss upcoming games, although the length of the recovery period is yet to be disclosed.

This will be a major blow for high-flying die Fohlen, given that the 22-year-old has featured in each and every game this season.

Borussia have enjoyed a bright start to the new Bundesliga campaign, taking 17 points from nine matches to climb to third in the league standings.

And having proved their worth with a brave performance against Bayern, die Fohlen are available at 2.63 (13/8) to achieve a top 4 finish.
