leipzigIt will be up to mid table side Freiburg to try and stop the amazing RB Leipzig in their tracks as the newly promoted side aim to extend their winning run to seven Bundesliga games.

Oddly enough, it was Freiburg who finished the previous campaign two points clear of their next opponents as they both secured promotion, and both sides continued with strong performances.

The Schwarzwald Stadion outfit have been blowing hot and cold this season, impressing in home games and largely struggling on the road, but they are already eight points clear of the bottom three.

While losing five of six away games, Freiburg won first four fixtures on home soil, before the excellent run came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Wolfsburg.

Christian Streich’s side will be looking to return to winning ways when they face red-hot RB Leipzig, but that is easier said than done considering the serious injury crisis.

Maximilian Philipp, Caglar Soyuncu, Lucas Hufnagel, Jonas Meffert and Karim Guede are all expected to miss out.

Lukas Kubler still lacks match fitness after returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but Manuel Gulde could return.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Schwolow – Stenzel, Torrejon, Gulde, Fohrenbach – Frantz, Hofler, Abrashi, Grifo – Petersen, Niederlechner.

RB Leipzig’s rise to unimagined heights remarkably reminds everyone of Leicester City’s unlikely title win last term, but the Bulls still have a long way to go.

To sit at the Bundesliga summit, three and six points clear of Bayern and Dortmund respectively is already a remarkable achievement, but things could change quickly.

RB Leipzig sit just six points ahead of seventh-placed Eintracht Frankfurt, meaning that several poor results in a row could see them plummet down the league standings.

But, seeing as how Ralph Hassenhuttl’s men are showing no signs of slowing down, they look a good bet to see off Freiburg as well at 1.95 (19/20).

The boss faces a selection headache of his own with defenders Marvin Compper, Lukas Klostermann and Bernardo all out injured, but Naby Keita should play after shaking off a minor knock.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Gulacsi – Ilsanker, Orban, Schmitz, Halstenberg – Sabitzer, Keita, Demme, Forsberg – Poulsen, Werner.
