Norway vs ItalytEven if it seems that Italy have nothing to play for after clinching Euro 2016 qualification, the Azzurri do need a win to stand any chance of becoming top seeds at the tournament finals.

Meanwhile, Norway are aware that a win at Stadio Olimpico would see them qualify, but that is clearly easier said than done.

Antonio Conte’s reign at the national team helm has not exactly been a smooth sailing, with the Azzurri often failing to prove they should still be regarded as one of Europe’s top sides.

Successive draws against Croatia (two) and Bulgaria created additional problems for Italy, but they have since returned to the right track and secured a place at the tournament finals.

Victories over Malta, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan proved enough for the Azzurri to book their place in France with two games to spare, but they still have a lot to play for.

If Netherlands fail to make the play-offs, Italy only need to better Belgium’s result in the final qualifier in order to clinch the final of top 6 seeds at the Euro 2016, meaning that a win over Norway will do if the Red Devils fail to beat Israel.

With that in mind, it is hardly surprising that the Azzurri have been made 1.90 (9/10) favourites to win their final match.

Andrea Pirlo remains doubtful through a muscle injury, whereas Marco Verratti should be fit to play after shaking off a calf problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Buffon – Darmian, Bonucci, Chiellini, De Sciglio – Candreva, Parolo, Verratti, El Shaarawy – Eder, Pelle.

Norway recovered well from the opening loss to Italy and went on to revive their qualifying hopes with successive wins over Malta, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan.

However, the 5-1 loss to Croatia and home draw with Azerbaijan appeared to have all but ended team’s chances of playing at the tournament finals.

Norway then produced two excellent performances to leapfrog Bulgaria and Croatia in the standings and having defeated Malta as well, Per-Mathias Hogmo’s charges are on the verge of glory.

The Nordic side do need to defeat Italy at Stadio Olimpico in order to qualify, and they are 4.75 (15/4) to succeed in their quest.

Tom Hogli and Pal Andre Helland were forced to withdraw from the squad due to injury, while Ruben Yttergard Jenssen, Tarik Elyounoussi and Mohammed Abdellaoue were overlooked.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Nyland – O. Elabdellaoui, Hovland, Forren, Aleesami – Tettey, Johansen – Skjelbred, Henriksen, Berget – Soderlund.
