Norway vs ItalytNorway missed the opportunity to secure automatic berth by losing to Italy, meaning they now need to try and pip Hungary to a place at the tournament finals.

Foci arrive at Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo on the back of a 4-3 loss in Greece that prevented them from qualifying for the Euro 2016.

Norway did fairly well at the start of the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, but the 5-1 loss to top 2 rivals Croatia appeared to have ended their hopes of securing automatic qualification.

Nevertheless, the heavy defeat appears to have served as a wake-up call for Per-Mathias Hogmo’s men, who went on to show a serious improvement.

Following the goalless draw with Azerbaijan, Norway recorded back to back wins over Bulgaria and Croatia to climb to second in the standings and after also defeating Malta, they needed a win in Italy to secure their progress.

But, despite taking the lead thanks to a magnificent goal by Alexander Tettey, the Nordic side went on to suffer a 2-1 loss and are now getting ready for the play-offs.

The national team coach opted to leave forward Joshua King out of the squad, while Adama Diomande is still unavailable through injury.

Experienced full-back Tom Hogli is back to the fold, while Marcus Pedersen is pushing for a start following the impressive run of form.

Norway have been made 1.95 (19/20) favourites to win the first leg, although they will have to work really hard for the win.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Nyland – Elabdellaoui, Forren, Hovland, Hogli – Johansen, Tettey – Skjelbred, Henriksen, Berget – Soderlund.

Hungary were quite fortunate to be placed into one of the easiest groups in the Euro 2016 qualifying, although they were not exactly favourites to go through.

However, a number of solid defensive showings helped Foci remain close to the top of the standings and while they were unable to claim a place in the top 2, they had a good opportunity to qualify as the most successful third-placed side.

All they had to to was defeat strugling Greece on the road, but that proved a very difficult task, with Hungary losing 4-3 despite twice taking the lead.

Coach Bernd Storck clearly paid the price for the shock decision to leave star players Adam Szalai and Zoltan Stieber out of the squad and he made things right by recalling the duo for the play-off matches.

Hungary are now available at 2.40 (7/5) to qualify for the tournament finals, with the game at Ullevaal set to serve as a major test to their ambitions.

Important defender Roland Juhasz misses out through suspension, whereas four more players are one yellow card away from a ban.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): Kiraly – Fiola, Guzmics, Kadar, Leandro – Lovrencsics, Gera, Elek, Dzsudzsak – Nemeth, Szalai.
