Denmark vs Czech Republic preview

The Euro 2012 participants have been placed into the same group with world beaters Italy, meaning that the outcome of this match can have a big effect on teams’ chances of making the tournament finals.

Denmark are slowly becoming used to being placed into very difficult groups and they certainly did not disappoint in Poland and Ukraine despite being drawn in the group of death alongside Germany, Portugal and Netherlands.

The Danes kicked off their campaign with a win over Oranje and were very unfortunate not to get something from other two group games.

The time has come for Morten Olsen’s side to concentrate on the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, but the atmosphere in the team is not very good after the 3-1 friendly defeat to Slovakia.

However, even without the suspended Nicklas Bendtner, the hosts have got to try and win this game, and they are 2.10 (11/10) with William Hill to triumph in Kobenhavn.

Aalborg striker Nicklas Helenius is expected to replace the new Juventus acquisition, while Jesper Juelsgard should start at left-back.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Andersen – Jacobsen, Kjaer, Agger, Juelsgard – Eriksen, Kvist, Zimling – Mikkelsen, Helenius, Krohn-Dehli.

Despite arriving at the Euro 2012 amidst low expectations, Czech Republic did well to qualify from their group, although they were powerless to prevent a defeat to Portugal in the quarter-finals.

The Czechs have since played out a goalless draw with Ukraine, proving they are slowly returning to old glory days, and now enter the new qualifying campaign high on confidence.

Seeing there were just two goals scored in team’s last three games and that Michal Bilek’s side would probably settle for one point in Denmark, odds of 1.60 (3/5) offered at Bodog on under 2.5 goals are hardly surprising.

On top of that, the visitors will be without attacking pillars Rosicky, Baros and Pilar, meaning that low-scoring game appears to be on the cards.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Cech – Gebre Selassie, Sivok, Kadlec, Limbersky – Hubschmann, Plasil – Jiracek, Darida, Kolar – Lafata.
