Denmark vs Australia preview

Denmark are looking to make amends for the home defeat to Brazil and improve the atmosphere in the squad before the start of the European Championship.

Australia, on the other hand, are preparing for the final stage of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers and they, too, are hoping for a good result at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.

Having been placed into the group of death at the Euro 2012, Denmark had no choice but to choose strong opponents for their final warm-up games before the start of the final tournament.

Nobody can blame Morten Olsen’s side for losing at home to Brazil, but another poor result is out of the question and odds of 1.83 (5/6) offered on home win at Bodog do look tempting.

The Danes have stayed without first choice keeper Thomas Sorensen, who was replaced by Kasper Schmeichel, but there are no other worries before the clash with Australia.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Andersen – Wass, Kjaer, Agger, S. Poulsen – C. Poulsen, Zimling – Schone, Eriksen, Krohn-Dehli – Bendtner.

Australia are undergoing preparations for the final stage of the 2014 World Cup Asian zone qualifiers, and the game against Denmark will serve as a dress rehearsal for the two tough games against Oman and Japan.

The Socceroos have been pretty impressive in the last few friendlies against European sides, beating the likes of Germany, New Zealand and Wales, while sharing spoils with Serbia.

They now aim to try and continue the impressive run, but that will be no easy task with very motivated Denmark on the other side.

Boss Holger Osieck will be without Josh Kennedy and Brett Holman, but that could mean that veterans Tim Cahill and Harry Kewell both start.

The visitors will line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with either Alex Brosque or James Troisi leading the attack.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Schwarzer – North, Spiranovic, Ognenovski, Neill – Milligan, Emerton – Bresciano, Cahill, Kewell – Brosque.
