Manchester City Community Shield

Sunday afternoon’s game at Wembley sees FA Cup winners Arsenal take on Premier League champions Manchester City in the Community Shield.

This is the first time in nine years that the Gunners have taken place in the traditional curtain raiser to the Premier League season, while City have featured in two of the last three.

Arsene Wenger could include three new signings, with Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez, French full-back Mathieu Debuchy and England U19 international Calum Chambers all available for selection though new goalkeeper David Ospina, who was so impressive for Colombia at this summer’s World Cup finals, is out with a thigh injury.

Yaya Sanogo, who a week ago scored four in a 5-1 friendly win over Benfica, could get the nod to lead the line with Olivier Giroud not 100% fit and the 21 year old is widely available at a price of 10.0 (9/1) to open the scoring, with Sanchez a 7.5 (13/2) shot with several bookmakers.

Arsenal are priced 3.4 (12/5) with Bet Victor to win the match inside ninety minutes, with City favourites at 2.25 (5/4) with Coral. The draw is available at 3.5 (5/2) with a number of firms.

Manuel Pellegrini’s could hand debuts to Willy Caballero and Fernando though fellow new arrivals Frank Lampard and Bacary Sagna, who left Arsenal after seven seasons with the club in June, have been deemed not yet ready to feature.

Sergio Aguero, Martin Demichellis, Pablo Zabaletta, Fernadinho and Vincent Kompany, who along with Sagna all featured in the knockout stages of the World Cup, are also unlikely to be selected.

Edin Dzeko is 6.5 (11/2) to get the first goal of the game while Yaya Toure is a 9.0 (8/1) chance with Ladbrokes.

City are unbeaten in their last four meetings with the North London side, with Arsenal’s last victory coming at the Emirates towards the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

Both teams have scored in just three of the past eleven meetings, so you may be tempted to back at least one clean sheet at 2.3 (13/10) with Coral while Paddy Power offer 2.1 (11/10) for there to be under 2.5 goals inside the ninety minutes.
