Premier League leaders Chelsea welcome Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

Jose Mourinho’s side, who were knocked out by eventual finalists Sunderland in the fifth round last season, are unbeaten in all competitions so far this campaign and go in to the game on the back of Sunday’s draw with Premier League champions Manchester City.

Midfielder Ramires is Mourinho’s only major injury concern, though Diego Costa is likely to be one of a number of players rested with Mohammed Salah, Loic Remy and Petr Cech among those likely to be included.

Remy is priced at 5.0 (4/1) with Bet 365 to get the first goal of the game with Andre Schurrle, fresh from scoring at the weekend, an 8.0 (7/1) shot with the same firm.

The home win inside ninety minutes is priced at 1.22 (2/9) with William Hill, with the visitors as highly priced as the 19.0 (18/1) on offer from Bet Victor, who have the draw at 7.5 (13/2).

Dougie Freedman’s men were knocked out by Tranmere Rovers on penalties in the second round last season, while they have needed extra-time to get past both Bury and Crewe Alexandra in this seasons competition.

In the league, they are above the Championship relegation zone on goal difference only after taking just five points from their opening eight games – losing to high-flying Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 last time out.

Chris Herd has moved to the Trotters on a month long loan, and is in line for his debut along with fellow new arrivals Paddy Kenny and Max Clayton.

Craig Davies, Jermaine Beckford and Joe Mason can each be backed at 15.0 (14/1) with Bet 365 to open the scoring.
Bolton haven’t beaten the Blues in over a decade, with Chelsea winning the last nine meetings on the bounce.

Seven of those victories came to nil, so may fancy backing that outcome at 2.0 (1/1) with Sky Bet while with five of the last seven wins being by a margin of at least three goals, the offer of 2.5 (6/4) from the same firm for such a victory is arguably as tempting.
