Borussia Dortmund vs StuttgartHaving finally ended the barren run with an impressive away triumph over Freiburg, Borussia aim to make another step towards Bundesliga survival against relegation rivals Mainz.

Their opponents slipped into the danger zone by losing at home to Hertha and now face a tough task against revived Millionaires.

This has clearly been a nightmare season for Borussia Dortmund, who expected to fight for the league trophy only to find themselves heavily involved in the relegation tussle.

There have finally been some good news at Signal-Iduna Park, with star player Marco Reus showing incredible loyalty to extend his contract despite lucrative offers from elsewhere.

On top of that, Borussia finally ended a six-match winless run as they hammered Freiburg on the road and they will be hoping for more success.

The Millionaires have a chance to escape the relegation zone and they can be backed at 1.36 (4/11) to see off Mainz on Friday.

Jurgen Klopp could have forward Adrian Ramos back in contention, but he still has quite a few important players on the sidelines.

The likes of Sven Bender, Sebastian Kehl, Jakub Blaszczykowski, Kevin Grosskreutz and Erik Durm continue to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller – Piszczek, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer – Gundogan, Sahin – Kampl, Kagawa, Reus – Aubameyang.

Mainz are another side that have been playing way below their potential, although they did well to end a nine-match winless run with a 5-0 triumph over Paderborn.

Kasper Hjumland’s charges then brought one point back from Hannover, but were unable to build on the good start to the new year.

Mainz suffered a 2-0 home loss to Hertha Berlin last weekend and they now sit mere three points above the relegation zone.

And with the away match against star-studded Borussia next, the Coface Arena outfit don’t have much to hope for.

First choice goalkeeper Loris Karius is suspended after seeing red against Hertha, with Stefanos Kapino set to deputize.

Jairo Samperio, Todor Nedelev and Christoph Moritz are out injured, while four players are one yellow card away from suspension.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Kapino – Brosinski, Bell, Bungert, Bengtsson – Geis, Baumgartlinger – Clemens, Malli, Hofmann – Okazaki.
