Leverkusen vs DortmundWith both of these teams starting the new season in great manner, the pick of the opening Bundesliga round should prove to be a very interesting match.

Borussia Dortmund will attempt to extend the good run against Bayer Leverkusen, a team that came close to Champions League group stages by winning the midweek fixture against FC Copenhagen.

Last season was not too successful for the Millionaires as they fail to win a major trophy apart from the German Super Cup, while finishing the league campaign some twenty points behind Bayern Munich.

The squad have undergone pretty big changes in the summer, and while Robert Lewandowski was the only notable player to depart, in came several very good footballers.

Numerous injuries during pre-season and post-World Cup holidays have created a problem for boss Jurgen Klopp, but the results did not suffer so far.

The Millionaires produced a very good performance to beat Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup match for the second year running before enjoying an easy win over Stuttgarter Kickers in the DFB Pokal.

Even with some important players still unavailable, Borussia have been made 1.60 (5/8) favourites to start the new league campaign with a win.

Adrian Ramos, Oliver Kirch and Ji Dong-Won are the latest casualties, whilst Ilkay Gundogan, Marcel Schmelzer, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Nuri Sahin remain on the sidelines.

Mats Hummels is unlikely to feature as he still lacks match fitness, with first choice keeper Roman Weidenfeller probably set to miss out as well.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-2-1-2): Langerak – Piszczek, Sokratis, Ginter, Durm – Bender – Jojic, Mkhitaryan – Reus – Aubameyang, Immobile.

It was a great finish to the season that secured the final Champions League berth for Bayer Leverkusen, but the club have since shown great ambition in the transfer market.

Die Werkself were powerless to prevent Emre Can and Sidney Sam from leaving, but they managed to add the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Josip Drmic, Wendell, Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Tin Jedvaj to their ranks.

New boss Roger Schmidt seems to have done a great job in pre-season as his side looked pretty impressive at the start of the new campaign, recording a 6-0 triumph over Alemannia Waldalgesheim, with Stefan Kiessling bagging five goals.

Bayer Leverkusen then showed a lot of character to defeat FC Copenhagen away in the Champions League play-off first round, so no doubt they go into the Borussia game full of confidence.

And with the opposition also in good spirits, both teams to score bet should be considered at odds of 1.62 (5/8) at Stan James.

The good news is Lars Bender and Kyriakos Papadopoulos have resumed full training, with youngster Tin Jedvaj expected to start after a good cameo role in Denmark.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Leno – Jedvaj, Toprak, Spahic, Boenisch – Castro, Rolfes – Bellarabi, Calhanoglu, Son – Kiessling.
