Bordeaux vs Lille preview

While Bordeaux aim to extend their unbeaten run to nine games and edge closer to European places, Lille desperately need to show some improvement after picking up just 10 points from first 8 games.

Les Girondins had been on then major downtrend ever since winning the Ligue 1 title in 2008/2009, but the arrival of former Sochaux boss Francois Gillot brought much needed stability to the club.

As a result, the French giants ensured European qualification thanks to an impressive finish to the last league campaign, before starting the new campaign in similar mood.

The 3-0 Europa League defeat to Newcastle was team’s first setback this term, but the most important thing is they have yet to lose a league game this season.

However, having failed to beat Nice and Ajaccio at home, odds of 2.25 (5/4) offered on home win at 888sport are not too tempting.

Defender Carlos Henrique is suspended having picked up three yellow cards in last three games, while Gregory Sertic, Nicolas Maurice-Belay and Fahid Ben Khalfallah remain sidelined.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Carrasso – Mariano, Sane, Planus, Tremoulinas – Plasil, N’Guemo – Jussie, Obraniak, Gouffran – Diabate.

Lille have been arguably the biggest disappointment of the season so far, with les Dogues struggling to rediscover their form in the early exchanges.

While losing both Champions League games in group stage, Rudi Garcia’s side could only pick up 10 points from first 8 league fixtures, so no wonder they now occupy the 10th place in the overall standings.

Les Dogues finally ended the six-match winless run as they defeated Ajaccio at home, and the international break will certainly have done them a world of good.

Lille will now attempt to win their second successive game, and they are 3.70 (27/10) with BetVictor to do so.

Rudi Garcia was delighted to welcome back Marvin Martin and Salomon Kalou to the squad after they recovered from injury, but Rio Mavuba is not yet ready to return. Idrissa Gueye is doubtful with a knee problem.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Landreau – Debuchy, Basa, Chedjou, Digne – Balmont, Pedretti, Martin – Payet, Roux, Mendes.
