Bayern Munich vs Hannover preview

Bayern vs HannoverBundesliga leaders Bayern Munich take on high-flying Hannover in what should be a very interesting encounter at Alianz Arena.

And while the 96ers have yet to score a goal on the road in the current campaign, they do have the quality to cause some problems for their more illustrious opponents.

The Bavarians were quite impressive in most games last term, recording one big win after another, but the team are clearly yet to hit the ground running this season.

Bayern are again getting the job done, but just one convincing win in nine matches this season is enough to suggest the team are far from the desired form.

Two 1-0 wins over Manchester City and CSKA Moscow put the Bavarians in a good position to qualify from what is a very difficult Champions League group, whereas they are already two points clear at the Bundesliga summit.

However, that has more to do with the poor form of their title rivals, given that Bayern have already dropped four points in the league, sharing spoils with Schalke and Hamburg on the road.

Even so, Pep Guardiola’s charges remain hot favourites to see off Hannover on Saturday, and having kept six clean sheets in a row, they are 1.91 (10/11) to win to nil.

Jerome Boateng is set to be recalled to the starting line-up, but Badstuber, Martinez, Schweinsteiger, Ribery and Thiago remain on the sidelines.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Neuer – Lahm, Boateng, Dante, Bernat – Alonso, Alaba – Robben, Muller, Gotze – Lewandowski.

Hannover had done well to establish themselves as a genuine top table side in German Bundesliga, but they were far from impressive last season, needing a great finish of the league campaign to escape the danger zone.

In an attempt to avoid another disappointing campaign, the club management signed a number of quality players in the summer, with some of them already proving their worth.

Team’s home form has been impeccable, with the 96ers defeating Schalke, Hamburg and Koln, while conceding just one goal in the process, but problems start once they leave HDI-Arena.

Hannover could only bring one point in total from away games against Mainz, Paderborn and Stuttgart, so they clearly don’t have much to hope for ahead of the clash at Alianz Arena.

The 96ers have lost last eight away matches against the Bavarians, scoring 3 and conceding 31 goals in the process.

Markus Miller, Florian Ballas, Leon Andreasen, Lars Stindl, Andre Hoffmann and Edgar Prib are all unavailable through injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-1-4-1): Zieler – Sakai, Marcelo, Schulz, Albornoz – Gulselam – Bittencourt, Schmiedebach, Hirsch, Kiyotake – Joselu.
