Wolfsburg vs LeverkusenHaving slipped to sixth as they lost to Werder Bremen, Bayer Leverkusen need to try and defeat high-flying Wolfsburg in order to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Meanwhile, the Wolves will be looking to further increase their advantage over top 4 rivals and remain in the hunt for the Bundesliga trophy.

Having secured a top 4 finish in the league on four of last five occasions, Bayer Leverkusen hoped for another Champions League qualification, but things haven’t exactly gone according to plan.

It was team’s poor home run that saw die Werkself drop outside the CL positions, with Roger Schmidt’s charges failing to win any of their last three fixtures at Bay Arena.

And having also suffered a narrow defeat in Bremen last time out, Bayer Leverkusen sit two points behind fourth-placed Augsburg.

With that in mind, this is definitely not the right time to be facing red-hot Wolfsburg, but the hosts were, nonetheless, made 2.35 (27/20) favourites to emerge victorious.

Coach Roger Schmidt faces some defensive problems given that Wendell and Omer Toprak are banned and Tin Jedvaj is out injured.

The likes of Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Sebastian Boenisch are set to deputize, with Heung-Min Son expected to be recalled.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Leno – Hilbert, Papadopoulos, Spahic, Boenisch – Bender, Castro – Bellarabi, Calhanoglu, Son – Kiessling.

Unlike their next opposition, Wolfsburg are enjoying the most successful season since lifting the league title in 2008/2009.

The Wolves not only cemented their place in the top 4, but have also managed to make the title race a bit more interesting, even if they remain eight points adrift of holders Bayern.

And while Wolfsburg have played great football throughout the current campaign, it was the 4-1 hammering of the Bavarians that hinted the Volkswagen Arena outfit were here to stay.

The Wolves defeated Hoffenheim 3-0 last weekend to place extra pressure on their more illustrious rivals and can now be backed at 3.10 (21/10) to see off Leverkusen as well.

Important midfielder Ivan Perisic remains sidelined through a muscle injury, while Timm Klose and Felipe Lopes are unavailable as well.

Revived Bas Dost continues to lead the line, meaning Nicklas Bendtner will again have to settle for a place on the bench.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Benaglio – Vieirinha, Naldo, Knoche, Rodriguez – Arnold, Gustavo – Caliguri, De Bruyne, Schurrle – Dost.
