Austria vs SwedenAfter they were pipped by Sweden to a place in the 2014 World Cup play-offs, Austria will attempt to get revenge and get their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign to a perfect start.

Meanwhile, Blagult hope the national team top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic will lead the team to a positive result in Wien.

Seeing as how they were awarded a place at the Euro 2008, it has now been 16 years that Austria have failed to qualify for a major tournament.

Das Team came close to reaching the World Cup play-offs, but a 2-1 defeat in Sweden marked the end of their qualifying hopes.

Austria have again been pitted against the Nordic side, but with Russia and Montenegro also in their group, they will have to work hard in order to make it to the tournament finals.

Das Team have been made 2.50 (3/2) favourites to defeat Sweden in their opening fixture, with the hosts hoping to repeat the 2-1 triumph from June 2013.

Coach Marcel Koller has made several surprises when naming his squad, leaving the likes of Andreas Ivanschitz, Andreas Weimann, Emmanuel Pogatetz and Franz Schiemer out of the side.

1860 Munich striker Ruben Okotie returns to the fold after a five-year exile, while Mark Janko has kept his place despite moving to Australia.

Veli Kavlak misses out through injury, but Martin Harnik and Sebastian Prodl have been passed fit for the visit of Sweden.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Almer – Klein, Dragovic, Hinteregger, Prodl – Baumgartlinger, Alaba – Harnik, Junuzovic, Arnautovic – Janko.

While qualifying for four successive European Championship tournaments, Sweden last played at the World Cup back in 2006, having missed the 2014 edition by losing to Portugal in the play-offs.

Blagult chiefs, nonetheless, decided to stick with Erik Hamren, and the team in turn had mixed success in international friendlies, defeating Moldova, Iceland and Estonia while losing to Turkey, Denmark and Belgium.

The time has now come for the first competitive fixture this year, where the Swedes are 3.20 (11/5) to claim maximum points.

By netting a brace against Estonia in midweek, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has become the team’s top ever goalscorer and he is 2.80 (9/5) to add to his 50 goals.

Erik Hamren has faced serious selection problems as Marcus Berg, Sebastian Eriksson, Rasmum Elm and Mikael Lustig all miss out through injury, while Branimir Hrgota was handed his first cap against Estonia.

The latest reports suggest that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will start as a lone striker, with youngsters Jimmy Durmaz and Nabil Bahoui deployed on the flanks.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Isaksson – Bengtsson, Granqvist, Antonsson, Martin Olsson – Larsson, Kallstrom, Ekdal – Durmaz, Ibrahimovic, Bahoui.
