Senegal vs Ivory CoastTwo of Africa’s most famous national teams have made it to the final with comfortable wins in the semis, and they are now set to battle it out for the coveted title Estadio de Bata.

Ghana have played better football throughout the tournament, but the sheer quality of Ivory Coast team means the trophy is up for grabs.

Searching for their first AFCON title since 1992, the Elephants once again had a slow start to the tournament finals, with many doubting their chances of going all the way.

Back to back draws against Guinea and Mali put Herve Renard’s charges in a difficult situation, but the narrow win over Cameroon in the final group game proved enough for a place in the quarter-finals.

Despite experiencing some problems, Ivory Coast impressed to record a 3-1 win over very good Algeria side, before they had a much easier task in the semis and managed to the same result in the match with Congo DR.

The Elephants thus qualified for their second final since 2012, and they can be backed at 1.67 (2/3) to finally lift the elusive trophy.

It was Herve Renard’s decision to switch to a three-man defence, marshalled by Kolo Toure, that kick-started the team’s campaign and he is likely to stick to the same formation for the Ghana clash.

This means that the 2012 winner is unlikely to make any changes to the side that defeated Congo DR in the semi-final.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): Gbohouo – Bailly, K. Toure, Kanon – Aurier, Y. Toure, Die, Tiene – Gradel, Gervinho – Bony.

Ghana, too, were in danger of crashing out in the group stage, having started the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Senegal, but Avram Grant’s side have been thoroughly impressive ever since.

Narrow wins over Algeria and South Africa proved enough to progress from a very difficult group, but it was team’s performances in the knockout stages that are enough to suggest they should be the favourites for the title.

Ghana turned on the style in the quarter-final and semi-final, recording 3-0 wins over Guinea and Equatorial Guinea, so there appears to be a lot of value in odds of 2.25 (5/4) offered on the Black Stars to win the 2015 AFCON.

Just like their next opponents, the Black Stars also started playing better after the change of playing style, with Avram Grant reverting to a four-man defence.

This has allowed the former Chelsea boss to accommodate five attack-minded players in his line-up, so no wonder his side have been scoring goals for fun of late.

After missing the semi-final win over Equatorial Guinea, captain Asamoah Gyan should be fit to face Ghana in the final.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Razak – Afful, Mensah, Boye, Baba – Wakaso, Acquah – Atsu, J. Ayew, A. Ayew – Gyan.
