Nigeria vs Burkina FasoThe long-awaited 2013 Africa Cup of Nations final is finally here, with Nigeria and Burkina Faso battling for the coveted title and a €1.2 million prize.

Nigeria had been seen as one of the candidates for the trophy ahead of the tournament finals, but their road to the final was by no means easy.

Opening draws against Burkina Faso and Zambia placed the Super Eagles into a very difficult position before the final group match against Ethiopia.

Stephen Keshi’s side were on the verge of elimination in that match, only to score two late penalties and ensure their place in the quarter-finals.

Nigeria then produced quite a coup by beating Ivory Coast, before producing an outstanding performance to beat Mali 4-1 in the semi-final.

This now makes them favourites to go all the way, with Super Eagles 2.05 (21/20) with BetVictor to win in regular time and 1.50 (1/2) at 888sport to lift the trophy.

With absolutely no selection problems at the moment, but Stephen Keshi is expected to field an unchanged line-up to that which hammered Mali.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Enyeama – Ambrose, Oboabona, Omeruo, Echiejile – Mba, Mikel, Onazi – Ideye, Emenike, Moses.

Having lost every single game at the 2012 AFCON, Burkina Faso were determined to show some improvement at the 2013 tournament.

Paul Put’s side did really well to not only qualify for the quarter-finals, but made it through from the first place in their group, thus earning a clash with Togo in the next round.

Despite staying without star player Alain Traore, the Stallions went on to make it to the semi-finals after extra time, but they then faced a very tough task against in-form Ghana.

Burkina Faso, nonetheless, produced a memorable performance to stay in the game despite having several major refereeing decisions go against them, and ended up earning a deserved victory on penalties.

After star forward Jonathan Pitroipa had his red card rescinded, there may be some value in backing the Burkinabe to lift the trophy, at odds of 2.75 (7/4) offered at Paddy Power.

There is every chance that Paul Put will make no changes to his starting line-up, just like his Nigeria counterpart.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): D. Diakite – Koffi, B. Kone, P. Koulibaly, Panandetiguiri – D.Kone, Kabore, Rouamba – Nakoulma, Bance, Pitroipa.
