Bolivia vs PeruBolivia were pretty fortunate to make it to the knockout stages in spite of the 5-0 loss to Chile, but they now aim to make the most out of the opportunity and try to qualify for the semis.

Peru, on the other hand, progressed from a very difficult group and they will fancy their chances of making it to the last four.

Having ended 2013 with a nine-match winless run and also failed to win any of first four matches in 2014, Bolivia had plenty to prove at the 2015 Copa America.

The 5-0 loss to Argentina in the final warm up game served as another blow to the players’ confidence, but La Verde impressed to take four points from their first two matches at the tournament finals.

That meant that not even 5-0 defeat to Chile could prevent them from reaching the quarter-finals, although they obviously need to show serious improvement if they are to pip Peru to semi-final berth.

Bolivia had only once reached this stage since lifting their only title in 1967, when they finished as runners up in 1997.

Coach Mauricio Soria will have important midfielder Danny Bejarano back to the starting line-up after he missed the Chile clash.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Quinonez – Hurtado, Raldes, Zenteno, Morales – Pedriel, D. Bejarano, Chumacero, Smedberg-Dalence – Lizio – Moreno.

Peru were pretty disappointing in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, taking mere 15 points from 16 matches, but they have since showed plenty of improvement.

La Blanquirroja slowly restored their confidence with wins over weaker opposition, before the 2-1 triumph over Paraguay proved they can also match South America’s top sides.

Peru proved their worth by giving Brazil a run for their money in the Copa America opening defeat, conceding the second goal in the dying moments of the match.

They then defeated very good Venezuela side before holding Colombia to a goalless draw, which proved enough for second place in the group and favourable quarter-final draw.

And with the players now brimming with confidence, it is hardly surprising Peru have been made 1.95 (19/20) favourites to beat Bolivia.

Coach Ricardo Gareca will have to make do without the suspended midfielders Carlos Lobaton and Josepmir Ballon, who are bound to be sorely missed.

Left-back Victor Yotun is set to start in midfield, while Edwin Retamoso will also be drafted into the starting line-up for the Bolivia clash.

Jefferson Farfan is nearing full fitness, whereas Luis Advincula, Carlos Zambrano, Claudio Pizarro and Christian Cueva have shaken off minor injuries.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-1-1): Gallese – Advincula, Zambrano, Ascues, Vargas – Sanchez, Retamoso, Yotun, Cueva – Farfan – Guerrero.
