Turkish international midfielder Arda Turan does not feature in Ernesto Valverde’s plans for the new season.

Even with Barcelona selling Neymar in a world-record deal to Paris Saint-Germain, Arda Turan’s first-team situation hasn’t changed as the new manager is currently scouring the transfer market to find a top-class replacement for the Brazilian star despite having a natural alternative within his own ranks.

Former Atletico Madrid man has been deemed surplus to the requirements at Camp Nou and could be allowed to leave Barcelona this summer. The Catalans are ready to listen to offers for their player, but there’s been an unsurprising lack of interest in a player who spent most of the last season out of the team.

A couple of teams have, however, approached Barcelona looking to loan the player and Turkish giants Galatasaray are one of those clubs.

The Turkish media outlet Sporx claims that Galatasaray are keen to take the playmaker on loan until the end of next season, during which time the Turks will cover his entire yearly wage in excess of €2.5 million.

Galatasaray refuse to drop their interest in what would be a marquee signing and a proper replacement for midfielder Wesley Sneider who moved to French side Nice last week.

The main problem for Galatasaray seems to be the player’s reluctance to leave Barcelona. Well aware of his current situation in the team, Arda Turan is believed to have asked Barcelona not to sell him until January.

Turan hopes next six months would be enough for him to prove Ernesto Valverde wrong and to push his way back into his plans.

Barcelona are set to begin their competitive season with the biggest of games against fierce rivals Real Madrid on Sunday at Camp Nou.

The Catalans are given 2.00 (1/1) betting odds to win the first leg of the Supercopa de Espana final.
