FA Cup Betting Preview

The draw for the third round of the FA Cup was made on Sunday evening, with teams from the England’s top two divisions joining the winners from last weekend’s round of games.

The fixtures will be played on the weekend of the 5th and 6th of January, starting in Brighton Saturday lunchtime, and concluding with Liverpool’s away tie on Sunday evening.

Holders Chelsea will be involved in one of the four all Premier League ties as they travel to 1976 winners Southampton, and the Blues are best priced at 8.5 (15/2) to retain the trophy.

Manchester City are favourites for the competition at 6.5 (11/2), having been handed a home draw against 1984 runners up Watford, whilst local rivals and record eleven times winners Manchester United, who were draw away to West Ham United, are a 7.5 (13/2) shot.

Tottenham Hotspur, who lifted the last of their eight cups in 1991, face Coventry City in a repeat of the 1987 final can be backed at 12.0 (11/1), the same price as their North London rivals Arsenal, who face a tricky third round tie at Swansea.

Liverpool are next in line, and are also a best price of 12.0 (11/1). They will travel to the winners of the replay between Blue Square Premier sides Mansfield Town and Lincoln City, whilst neighbours Everton, who could also face non-league opponents should Hereford United get past League Two Cheltenham Town, are generously priced at 17.0 (16/1) with Coral.

Six-times winners Newcastle United, who will make the long trip to Brighton and Hove Albion can be backed a 34.0 (33/1) with Bet Victor while Fulham, who are widely available at the same price host Blackpool.

Elsewhere, 41.0 (40/1) shot Sunderland have a potentially tricky trip to Bolton Wanderers, whilst West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City are available at 51.0 (50/1) having been drawn at Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace respectively.

Leicester City, who hold the unwanted statistic of losing a record four finals head the non-Premier League teams in the market at a price of 101.0 (100/1),whilst Championship leaders and 2008 finalists Cardiff City are 151.0 (150/1) with Sporting Bet.
