Tottenham vs FiorentinaOne of the high-profile ties in the Europa League Last 32 stage will see Serie A top 3 contenders Fiorentina take on title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur.

And with both sides clearly focused on their respective league campaigns, much will depend on how the two managers approach the game at Artemio Franchi.

Fiorentina have been regular in Europa League over the last few years, but Viola are desperate to enjoy some Champions League football as well.

Paulo Sousa’s men made an important step towards said goal by coming from behind to defeat Inter Milan at the weekend, although they still need to ward off challenge from the Nerazzurri, AS Roma and AC Milan.

At the same time, Fiorentina will attempt to lift the Europa League trophy and thus secure the CL berth, and they stand a good chance of getting past Tottenham.

Namely, while Spurs will field a second string side at Artamio Franchi, Paulo Sousa plan to select a strong side, so no wonder the hosts have been made 2.40 (7/5) favourites to win the first leg.

Argentine defender Facundo Roncaglia continues to miss out through suspension, but Milan Badelj and Khouma Babacar will be recalled.

Marcos Alonso and Mauro Zarate should start considering they are banned for weekend’s game against Atalanta, while Tino Costa and Luigi Seppe are tipped to start as well.

Probable starting line-up (3-4-2-1): Seppe – Tomovic, Rodriguez, Astori – Bernardeschi, Valero, Costa, Alonso – Ilicic, Zarate – Babacar.

Tottenham Hotspur have become famous for showing promise in all the competitions entered yet rarely going all the way, but they have a perfect opportunity to change that this season.

Spurs have reached the final stages of the FA Cup and Europa League, but their unlikely title bid in the Premiership can make all the difference.

Five straight league wins have seen Tottenham climb to within two points of leaders Leicester City, while at the same time leapfrogging the likes of Arsenal and Man City in the standings.

And with the Premier League campaign clearly the priority at the moment, manager Mauricio Pochettino is almost certain to rest his star players at Artemio Franchi.

While Jan Vertonghen and Clinton N’Jie are still sidelined through injury, the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli are all set to be rested.

Therefore, there should be starts for Ryan Mason, Nacer Chadli, Tom Carroll, Erik Lamela and few other players who are not normally considered first team regulars.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Vorm – Trippier, Wimmer, Alderweireld, Davies – Mason, Carroll – Lamela, Onomah, Chadli – Son.
