West Ham United vs Stoke City Preview

Monday evening’s Premier League action comes from the London Stadium where West Ham United take on Stoke City.

The Hammers have taken four points from their last two games to move six points clear of the bottom three and a win here would see them rise to twelfth place, and go a long way to helping secure their top flight status for at least another season.

Last month’s defeat to Burnley was their only home defeat of 2018 so far and only their second in their last ten matches in front of their own fans.

Andy Carroll, James Collins and Manuel Lanzini are all available for the hosts though Pedro Obiang, Sam Byram and Winston Reid miss out.

Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez can each be backed at 5.0 (4/1) to open the scoring with a variety of firms, with Mark Noble a 11.5 (23/2) chance with Unibet.

The home win is 2.0 (1/1) with most firms with the visitors as highly priced as the 4.2 (16/5) on offer from a number of bookmakers. The draw is widely available at 3.5 (5/2).

Paul Lambert’s side extended their winless run to nine games after losing to Tottenham Hotspur last time out and they are six points from safety following the weekend’s results.

They will be keen to close that gap with a positive result here though Southampton and Swansea City – the two sides directly above them in the table do have a game in hand.

Lambert’s only injury concern is over forward Eric Maxim Chupo-Moting, who is yet to recover from a groin injury.

Xherdan Shaqiri is priced at 9.0 (8/1) to get the first goal of the game with Unibet ahead of 10.0 (9/1) chance Peter Crouch.

David Moyes’ side ran out 3-0 winners in the reverse fixture back in December while both of last season’s meetings between the sides ended all square.

You can back the home win to nil at 3.25 (9/4) with Sky Bet while a Hammers triumph coupled with three or more goals in the game can be backed at a price of 3.4 (12/5).
