ProdlPremier League newcomers Watford have completed the signing of Austrian defender Sebastian Prodl from Werder Bremen, the club announced on their official website.

The 27-year-old joins the Hornets on a free transfer and has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Vicarage Road.

Sebastian Prodl has spent last seven years with Werder Bremen, having arrived from Sturm in the summer of 2008.

He has since made a total of 149 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals in the process.

The highly rated centre back can also operate on the left hand side and no doubt his arrival is a major coup for the Hornets.

After securing promotion to the Premier League by finishing second in the Championship, Watford are 2.25 (5/4) to survive the next campaign.
