KompanyManchester City captain Vincent Kompany has picked up an injury in the Champions League clash against Juventus, it has been revealed.

The Belgium international was instrumental in helping the Citizens take the lead, but they eventually had to settle for a 2-1 loss, with the centre-back suffering a calf injury in the process.

Kompany will be assessed ahead of weekend’s game against West Ham, where Manchester City have been made 1.30 (3/10) favourites to win.

“We will have to see how Vincent is on Wednesday,” Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini said. “We will check and see how serious the injury is.”

Summer recruit Nicolas Otamendi will be ready to deputize if needed, but the good news is that Sergio Aguero returned into action after recovering from a knee problem.

“He was not fit to play 90 minutes. It was a risk and I tried not to use him in case he got a kick in the same place,” Pellegrini added.
