Victor WanyamaKenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama is the latest Southampton footballer to move to the infirmary after picking up an injury in the FA Cup clash against Ipswich.

The highly rated footballer started the replay game at Portman Road, but felt his hamstring and had to come off just before the half-time break.

The early signs suggest the injury is relatively serious, with manager Ronald Koeman revealing Wanyama could miss up to five weeks of action.

“It is a real negative,” Koeman said after the game. “We already have some other injuries. If it is a hamstring injury then he will be out for four to five weeks.”

The Dutch coach is already without Morgan Schneiderlin, Toby Alderweireld and Maya Yoshida, but he did manage to rest some star players in midweek ahead of the Newcastle clash.

Following the impressive triumph at Old Trafford that saw the Saints cement their top 4 position, Southampton are 2.30 (13/10) to win at St James’ Park.
