Robin van PersieManchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that striker Robin van Persie will not be taking any more penalties this season.

The Netherlands international missed a late penalty against West Bromwich at the weekend as well as a succession of chances as the Red Devils suffered third straight Premier League defeat.

Manchester United are now in danger of missing out on Champions League qualification, and Louis van Gaal reveals van Persie has dropped to the bottom of the queue when it comes to penalty takers.

“He is now at the end of the road,” van Gaal said after the game. “It is always (the same). Wayne Rooney has missed also, so when you miss, you are at the bottom again.”

Manchester United damaged their hopes of a top 4 finish with three successive defeats, but they still hold a four-point advantage over Liverpool with three games to go.

The Red Devils face high-flying Crystal Palace on the road next weekend and they are 1.83 (5/6) favourites to emerge victorious.
