Tottenham vs West HamHaving slipped to sixth in the Premier League standings after the defeat at Anfield, Spurs have no choice but to beat local rivals West Ham if they want to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

The Hammers have experienced plenty of problems of late, but the return of several important players gives them reason for optimism ahead of the short trip to White Hart Lane.

With the club having invested considerable funds into the playing squad over the years, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has a host of quality footballers at his disposal, and it is the big squad that helped the team do well in most competitions entered.

Spurs have reached the Capital One Cup final, with the game against Chelsea scheduled for next Sunday, while they are still in the race for the Europa League trophy.

Tottenham failed to beat Fiorentina in midweek, but it is not as if they do not have the quality to make things right at Artemio Franchi.

Nevertheless, Premier League top 4 chase remains the priority, and with 13 games to go Spurs sit three points behind Champions League positions.

The narrow defeat to Liverpool might not prove too costly if Tottenham can return to winning ways straight away, and odds of 1.83 (5/6) offered on home win do look tempting.

Mauricio Pochettino will again have fully fit squad to select from, with the likes of Harry Kane and other starters set to be recalled after they were rested in midweek.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Lloris – Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose – Mason, Bentaleb – Lamela, Dembele, Eriksen – Kane.

Two thirds into the Premier League campaign and West Ham are still in with a chance of securing European qualification, although it is clear the team are now playing to their potential at the moment.

Numerous injuries to the playing squad seem to have taken the wind out of their sails, with the Hammers winless in last three league fixtures.

Add to that a 4-0 FA Cup loss to West Bromwich and you will see why Sam Allardyce’s charges face an uphill task at White Hart Lane.

The Hammers did well to reinforce their attack with former PSG star Nene in the light of Andy Carroll’s latest injury, but the Brazilian lacks match fitness and is not in contention for the local derby.

The good news is the likes of Winston Reid, James Collins and Matt Jarvis are all back after recovering from injury.

West Ham have largely struggled on the road of late, having failed to win any of last five matches, scoring mere two goals in the process.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-1-2): Adrian – Jenkinson, Reid, Tomkins, Cresswell – Noble, Kouyate, Song – Downing – Sakho, Valencia.
