Tim KrulNewcastle goalkeeper is set for a three-week spell on the sidelines through a knee injury, according to boss Alan Pardew.

The 25-year-old suffered the injury in the midweek’s 3-0 defeat to Everton and has effectively been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Southampton.

And it appears that Krul will be out of action for at least two or three weeks, as confirmed bu Newcastle manager Alan Pardew.

“Tim won’t play, he’s out for these next two or three games for sure, so Rob Elliot will come in,” Pardew was quoted as saying.

“Rob has made his international squad and he is keen to stay in that squad and he needs to play, so the opportunity lands at his feet. Rob is a confident goalie and he will look to take that on.”

The good news is that both David Santon and Loic Remy should be available, although Mathieu Debuchy remains on the sidelines.

Newcastle players will be eager to produce a response following the embarrassing loss to Everton, but the Magpies are 5.50 (9/2) to win at St Mary’s.
