PoyetSunday’s Premier League action commences at the Stadium of Light where Sunderland take on Everton.

Having lost two games by an aggregate score of ten goals to nil, Gus Poyet’s side secured an impressive 3-1 win at Crystal Palace on Monday – a result which saw them move up to fifteenth place and they began the weekend just two points of Everton in ninth.

Jack Rodwell is fit and available to face his former club, though Patrick van Aanholt is out with a dislocated shoulder and Lee Cattermole serves a one match suspension.

Steven Fletcher, who doubled his season’s tally to four with a brace last time out is widely available at 9.0 (8/1) to get the first goal of the game, with Connor Wickham a 10.0 (9/1) shot with a variety of firms.

The home win is generously priced at 4.0 (3/1) with Bet Victor, with the visitors favourites at 2.1 (11/10) with Bet 365 who offer 3.5 (5/2) for the draw.

Roberto Martinez’s men, who recently went five games in all competitions without a win are now five without defeat, and go into the game on the back of Thursday evening’s 3-0 Europa League win over Lille.

Both Gareth Barry and Seamus Coleman will undergo late fitness tests ahead of the game while Antolin Alcaraz, who dislocated his shoulder in the goalless draw with Swansea City last weekend, is set to be replaced by Sylvain Distin.

Romelu Lukaku is 5.5 (9/2) to open the scoring with most bookmakers, with top scorer Steven Naismith an 8.0 (7/1) shot with Bet 365.

Both meetings between the sides last season finished in a 1-0 victory to the visitors, with a Sung-Yong Ki penalty enough to win the game for Sunderland at Goodison Park on Boxing Day before a Wes Brown own goal separated the sides in the North East in April.

In fact, the last three clashes have seen just a single goal, so you may be tempted to take advantage of Coral’s offer of 3.75 (11/4) for there to be under 1.5 this time around.
