This season’s penultimate weekend of Premier League action kicks off at St Mary’s Stadium where Southampton face Aston Villa.

Ronald Koeman’s side lost at Leicester City last time out to stretch their winless run to four games, and completely end their distant hopes of finishing in the top four.

A return to winning ways here would see them leapfrog Tottenham Hotspur in to sixth place, with the North London not hosting relegation threatened Hull City until later on Saturday afternoon.

James Ward Prowse is set to return to the match-day squad after serving a suspension, while Morgan Schneiderlin and Dusan Tadic are out injured and Jay Rodriguez is short off match fitness after missing the whole season so far with a knee injury.

Top scorer Graziano Pelle is favourite to open the scoring at 6.0 (5/1) with Ladbrokes, while Saido Mane is a 7.0 (6/1) shot with the same firm.

The home win 1.8 (4/5) with Betfred, with the visitors as highly priced as the 5.4 (22/5) on offer from Bet Victor, who have the draw at 3.8 (14/5).

Villa, who will face Arsenal in the FA Cup final in a fortnight, beat West Ham United last weekend to move to within a win away from securing their top flight status.

Three points here would see them move seven points clear of eighteenth place Hull, and level with West Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion in thirteenth ahead of next weekend’s home game against already relegated Burnley.

Tim Sherwood has no fresh injury concerns, though his squad has been boosted by the returns of Gary Gardner and Callum Robinson from loan spells.

Christian Benteke, who was last week named April’s Premier League Player of the Month and has eleven goals in his last ten club games, is widely available at 7.5 (13/2) to get the first goal of the game, with Gabriel Agbonlahor a 13.0 (12/1) chance with Stan James.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Villa Park back in November, the fourth time in six meetings where both teams have scored, and you can back that outcome here at 1.95 (19/20) with Betfair.
