Southampton vs ArsenalAfter holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s, Southampton will be looking to claim another major scalp when they host Arsenal on Thursday.

The Gunners revived their Champions League hopes with derby wins over QPR and West Ham, but they now face another very important match.

Many people believed Southampton would not be able to mount a serious top 4 challenge in spite of the amazing start to the season, and the Saints indeed suffered a serious dip in form.

Four straight defeats in the Premier League seriously threatened to ruin their season, but Ronald Koeman’s charges then produced a perfect response to prove all the doubters wrong.

Southampton recorded comfortable wins over Everton and Crystal Palace to return to the fourth position in the standings, before giving leaders Chelsea a real run for their money.

The Saints even took the lead through Sadio Mane, but they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 draw as the Blues seriously raised their game.

Southampton now face a very important match against top 4 rivals Arsenal, where they are 3.00 (2/1) to emerge victorious.

Morgan Schneiderlin is banned after seeing red against Chelsea, while Nathaniel Clyne is doubtful through a knee injury.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Forster – Clyne, Fonter, Alderweireld, Bertrand – Ward-Prowse, Wanyama, Davis – Long, Pelle, Tadic.

Arsenal spent the majority of the early exchanges outside the Premiership top 4, but the Gunners have finally managed to kick-start their season.

Arsene Wenger’s men have raised their game of late, winning three of last four matches, while sharing spoils with Liverpool at Anfield.

The Gunners did well to record back to back wins over QPR and West Ham in the space of just two days, and they have two more fixtures to negotiate before they can finally enjoy a full week’s break.

The first of those could be very important to club’s Champions League hopes, so you should know Arsenal are 2.50 (3/2) favourites to win at St Mary’s.

Arsene Wenger will have Tomas Rosicky back to the side after the veteran midfielder was rested at the weekend, but Aaron Ramsey is not yet ready to return.

Olivier Giroud serves the second game of his three-match ban, while Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta continue to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-3-3): Szczesny – Debuchy, Chambers, Koscielny, Gibbs – Rosicky, Coquelin, Chamberlain – Sanchez, Welbeck, Cazorla.
