Preston vs Man UtdAfter they eliminated League Cup semi-finalists Sheffield United, Preston North End will attempt to create another surprise when they host Manchester United at Deepdale Stadium.

The Red Devils needed a replay to eliminate Cambridge United, and this is another match where they need to be wary of weaker opposition.

Preston North End are enjoying one of the most successful seasons in recent years and the FA Cup clash against Manchester United is a just reward for some impressive performances.

The Lilywhites have climbed to fourth in the League One standings, and they currently sit four points behind promotion places, albeit with a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Preston have been putting in some strong performances in the FA Cup as well, defeating the likes of Havant & Waterlooville, Shrewsbury, Norwich and Sheffield United to reach the fifth round.

The Lilywhites head into the Manchester United clash high on confidence having won their last three matches in all competitions, and they are 6.00 (5/1) to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Preston boss Simon Grayson, who led Leeds United to FA Cup triumph over Manchester United few years back, has some pretty impressive attacking options at his disposal, with the likes of Kevin Davies, Jermaine Beckford, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Joe Garner vying for places up front.

Jermaine Beckford and Callum Robinson are both injury doubts, whereas Calum Woods is the only player that is certain to miss out.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Johnstone – Brownhill, Huntington, Clarke, Wiseman – Johnson, Kilkenny – Humphrey, Gallagher, Laird – Davies.

Manchester United are one of the strongest sides left in the competition, but the Red Devils cannot really hope to lift the coveted trophy unless their performances improve.

Their results in the Premiership have been pretty decent and the team remain in third position, but the showings leave a lot to be desired.

Team’s FA Cup campaign is a perfect testament to their troubles, with Manchester United finding it hard to outplay Yeovil Town and Cambridge United in the previous two rounds.

Louis van Gaal’s charges recorded a comfortable win in the fourth round replay to earn their place in the fifth round and they can be backed at 1.50 (1/2) to defeat Preston at Deepdale.

The Dutch manager has all but confirmed that David De Gea will continue in goal, while Michael Carrick remains on the sidelines.

Phil Jones, Daley Blind and Robin van Persie are all rated doubtful and they are unlikely to be risked against Preston.

Probable starting line-up (4-4-2): De Gea – McNair, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw – Mata, Fellaini, Herrera, Young – Rooney, Wilson.
