QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt has moved one step closer to joining Paris Saint-Germain after the Saints increased their initial bid.

French giants are looking to build a squad capable of challenging for honours and have recently appointed Leonardo as their sporting director.

After selling Stephane Sessegnon to Sunderland, the Saints are in desperate need of a playmaker and they have shown interest in QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt.

The Championship Player of the Year has earlier expressed his desire to join a bigger club, while QPR manager Neil Warnock revealed that the club might have to sell their most prized asset.

Paris Saint-Germain have had their opening bid for the Moroccan rejected, but are now very close to completing the deal having increased their bid to £15 million.

The 22-year-old is reportedly excited by the prospect of joining the Saints and everything suggests the deal will be completed within next few days.

Taarabt’s departure would, however, present a big problem for Neil Warnock as the Rangers are set to embark on their maiden Premiership campaign, so odds of 2.75 (7/4) offered by Bodog on QPR to get relegated are looking increasingly tempting.
