Saturday’s Premier League action kicks off at St James’ Park where a resurgent Newcastle United take on seventh place Liverpool.

Having struggled in the opening months of the campaign, Alan Pardew’s side have won their last three games in all competitions – a run that includes Wednesday evening’s shock 2-0 win over holders Manchester City in the Capital One Cup.

Previous to their cup exploits, the North East club secured back to back league wins for the first time since March, with those six points lifting them to fourteenth place and three more here could see them move to within a point of their opponents.

A number of first team regulars who were rested for that victory at the Etihad Stadium are set to return, though Papiss Cisse and Mike Williamson are doubtful and Check Tiote is definitely out with a calf problem.

Ayoze Perez is priced at 10.0 (9/1) with Bet 365 to open the scoring, with Remy Cabella a 13.0 (12/1) chance with a variety of firms.

The home win is widely available at 3.8 (14/5), with Liverpool favourites at 2.05 (21/20) while the draw is a 3.75 (11/4) chance with Bet 365.

The visitors go in to the game on the back of Tuesday evening’s come-from-behind victory over Swansea City in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup, while last time out in the league they were held to a goalless draw by Hull City.

Jose Enquire will not face his former club after suffering a knee injury, while Daniel Sturridge, Mamadou Sakho, Suso and Jon Flanagan remain side-lined.

Mario Balotelli, who scored his second Reds goal in midweek is favourite to get the first goal of the game at 6.0 (5/1) with William Hill, with Steven Gerrard an 11.0 (10/1) chance with Bet 365.

Last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a 2-2 draw just over a year ago , while it was Liverpool who ran out 2-1 winners when the sides met at Anfield on the final day of last season.

With eleven of the last thirteen meetings between the sides dishing up at least three goals, you may be tempted to back over 2.5 this time around at 1.83 (5/6) with Bet Victor.
