Saturday’s Premier League action concludes at St James’ Park where struggling Newcastle United face champions Chelsea.

Having lost their last three league games, Steve McClaren’s side crashed out of the League Cup after losing 1-0 at home to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

They are currently second from bottom of the division, above rivals Sunderland on goal difference with just two points from their six games so far.

The hosts will be boosted by the return of striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has now served his three match ban while top league goalscorer Daryl Janmaat has recovered from illness though Papiss Cisse, Massadio Haidara, Jack Colback and Roland Aarons are all doubts.

Mitrovic is 11.0 (10/1) to open the scoring with Bet 365, with Siem De Jong a 15.0 (14/1) chance with a number of firms.

The home win is 6.0 (5/1) with a variety of bookmakers, with the visitors favourites at 1.65 (13/20) with Bet Victor. The draw is widely available at 4.2 (16/5).

Jose Mourinho’s men have bounced back from recent back-to-back league defeats with three consecutive wins in all competitions – the most recent of which coming at Walsall in their League Cup third round tie.

The Blues could end the day in the top five if results fall in their favour while defeat could see them slip to within one place of the bottom three.

Diego Costa begins the three match suspension handed to him in the aftermath of last weekend’s win over Arsenal though Willian, Pedro and Oscar are all available after injury.

Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy can each be backed at 6.0 (5/1) to get the first goal of the game with Paddy Power, with Eden Hazard a 7.0 (6/1) shot with the same firm.

Newcastle have beaten Chelsea in the last three meetings in the North East, with the Blues winning each of the last three clashes at Stamford Bridge.

The Magpies have failed to score in five of their eight matches in all competitions so far this season, so you may be tempted to back the champions to get a clean sheet here at 2.35 (27/20) with Coral.
