Sylvain DistinEverton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that Sylvain Distin could miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.

The stopper picked up the problem in the weekend’s 2-0 triumph over Manchester United and had to be replaced by Antolin Alcaraz.

He is set to undergo a scan to reveal the extent of injury, and Everton manager Roberto Martinez hopes the Frenchman will play again this season.

“Sylvain will have a scan tomorrow (Monday). He felt his hamstring. I just hope we pulled him out of the game just in time”, the manager told the club’s official site.

“If it’s damaged, it will be difficult for him to play again this season. But, if not, maybe within a week or 10 days he will be fine.”

And with captain Phil Jagielka also sidelined through injury, Martinez only has Josh Stones and Antolin Alcaraz as his fit senior centre-backs.

The Toffees remained one point behind fourth-placed Arsenal following the victory over Manchester United and they are available at 5.00 (4/1) to achieve a top 4 finish.
