Monday evening’s Premier League action comes from Old Trafford where Manchester United take on managerless Stoke City.

The Red Devils, who beat Everton last time out in the league remained in second place following the weekend’s other results though both Chelsea and Liverpool moved level on points after drawing and winning respectively.

The latter’s win over leaders Manchester City means that victory here would see Jose Mourinho’s men close the gap on their neighbours to twelve points.

Antonio Valencia could return after missing the last four weeks with a hamstring problem though Michael Carrick, Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic remain sidelined and Ashley Young is suspended.

Romelu Lukaku, who scored for the first time in five in the 2-0 FA Cup third round victory over Derby County ten days ago is favourite to get the opening goal of the game here at 3.65 (45/17) with Unibet, with Anthony Martial a 5.5 (9/2) chance with William Hill.

Unibet have the home win at 1.23 (3/13) with the visitors as highly priced as the 17.0 (16/1) on offer from Ladbrokes. The draw is 7.0 (6/1) with a number of bookmakers.

Stoke go in to the game having been knocked out of the FA Cup by League Two side Coventry City and in the relegation zone with the worst goal difference in the division.

A win here would see them climb out of the bottom three at the expense of Southampton, who having led two-nil, only managed to draw at Watford on Saturday afternoon.

Erik Pieters and Bruno Martins-Indi could return in defence, as could captain Ryan Shawcross while there could be a debut for Austria international Moritz Bauer, who signed from Rubin Kazan a week ago.

Peter Crouch is widely available at 15.0 (14/1) to open the scoring with Xherdan Shaqiri a 23.0 (22/1) chance with Sky Bet.

The reverse fixture at the Bet 365 Stadium back in October ended 2-2 – the third consecutive score draw between the sides so you may be tempted to back both teams to hit the back of the net this time around at 2.12 (19/17) with Unibet.
