Premier League leaders Manchester United host Southampton tomorrow evening, looking to regain a seven point advantage at the top of the table with second place Manchester City only managing a point in their game at Loftus Road.

The hosts could welcome back defensive duo Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, who were rested for Saturday’s 4-1 FA Cup fourth round victory, along with top scorer Robin Van Persie who is set to spearhead the attack though Jonny Evans and Ashley Young will miss out.

Van Persie has 22 goals already this season is once again favourite to open the scoring with a variety of bookmakers offering 3.5 (5/2), while Javier Hernandez is a 5.0 (4/1) having bagged a brace at the weekend.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are 1.25 (1/4) favourites to take the three points, with Southampton as highly priced as 15.0 (14/1). The draw is available at 7.0 (6/1).

Southampton had the weekend off having lost their FA Cup third round tie with Chelsea earlier in the month.

They drew 0-0 with Everton in their last league game nine days ago, which was new manager Maurico Pochettino’s first in charge of the club. Victory here could take them a high as thirteenth place, as well as six points clear of the relegation zone

The Saints could welcome back captain Adam Lallana after two months out with a knee injury, and may hand a debut to new signing Vegard Forren though Jose Fonte and Guly Do Prado are both injured.

Top scorer Rickie Lambert is widely available at 13.0 (12/1) to get the first goal of the game, which is worth considering with the hosts having conceded first in almost half of their league fixtures this season.

They did lead twice when the two sides met at St. Mary’s back in August, before going on to lose the match by three goals to two.

A repeat of that score-line is 29.0 (28/1) with a variety of bookmakers, while you can get a price of 8.5 (15/2) from 888 Sport for Manchester United to again come from behind to win.
