Manchester United vs Liverpool Preview

Sunday afternoon’s Premier League action from Old Trafford sees Manchester United take on fierce rivals Liverpool – one of the most anticipated matches of the season.

Many would argue that over the past few years, the clash might have lost its edge though with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s resurgent side aiming to secure a top four spot and Jurgen Klopp’s men in the hunt for the title, mouths are watering all over the world.

The Red Devils have taken twenty-five points from twenty-seven available in Solskjaer’s nine league games in charge and another win here will see them tighten their grip on fourth place.

Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial could both return after recovering from their respective injuries, while David De Gea is expected to replace Sergio Romero in goal after the Spain international was rested for Monday’s FA Cup fifth round win over Chelsea.

Marcus Rashford is widely available at 5.5 (9/2) to open the scoring ahead of Romelu Lukaku, who can be backed at 7.5 (13/2) with Betfair.

The home win is as highly priced as the 3.25 (9/2) on offer from Bet Victor, with the visitors favourites at 2.38 (11/8) with a number of firms. The draw is widely available at 3.5 (5/2).

After back-to-back draws against Leicester City and West Ham United, the Reds returned to winning ways at home to Bournemouth a fortnight ago.

They go in to this game joint on points with Manchester City and while they have an inferior goal difference to the Champions, they have played a game less.

Virgil Van Dijk is expected to start after missing the midweek draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League through suspension though fellow defender Dejan Lovren remains out with a hamstring problem.

Mo Salah is favourite to get the first goal of the game at 5.5 (9/2) with Paddy Power, with Sadio Mane priced at 8.0 (7/1) with some firms.

Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners when the sides met at Anfield back in December – a game that proved to be Jose Mourinho’s last in charge while last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a 2-1 win for United.

You can bet on both teams to score this time around at 1.67 (4/6) with William Hill while the same firm offer 1.85 (17/20) for there to be three or more goals in the game.
