Sunday’s Premier League action kicks off at Old Trafford where in form Manchester United host fierce rivals Liverpool.

Louis van Gaal’s men remain in third place following Saturday’s results having lost just once in their last ten matches, with the last five of their games ending in victory for the Red Devils.

Another win here would see them again close the gap on second place Manchester City and leaders Chelsea, who this weekend beat Leicester City and Hull City respectively.

Jonny Evans could start at centre-back after coming on for the injured Chris Smalling in the first half of Monday’s win at Southampton with fellow defenders Phil Jones and Rafael also available for the first time in two months though Luke Shaw, Daley Blind and Angel Di Maria remain side-lined.

Top scorer Robin van Persie, who bagged a brace at St Mary’s is favourite to open the scoring at 5.5 (9/2) with Ladbrokes, with Wayne Rooney a 6.0 (5/1) shot with the same firm.

The home win is priced at 1.85 (17/20) with Bet Victor, who have the draw at 3.8 (14/5) while the visitors can be backed at 4.75 (15/4) with Bet 365.

Like their opponents, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five games but only two of those matches ended in victory for Brendan Rodgers’ men and they go in to this clash having crashed out of the Champions League following Tuesday’s draw with Swiss champions Basel.

They could welcome back Adam Lallana, Kolo Toure and Mario Balotelli who have all recovered from their respective injuries.

Rickie Lambert is 9.5 (17/2) with Bet Victor to get the first goal of the game ahead of Steven Gerrard, who is a 13.0 (12/1) chance with the same firm.

Liverpool beat United without conceding both home and away in the league last season, either side of the Manchester side’s 1-0 victory in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

However, with the home side having the edge in time of form this time around, you may be tempted to back a United win with both teams scoring in the match at 3.75 (11/4) with Betfair.
