Manchester City vs Swansea City preview

Sunday afternoon’s game at the Etihad Stadium sees Manchester City host Swansea City, with both teams having suffered contrasting fortunes in Europe midweek.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men have fired in ten goals in front of their own fans in the last seven days, by following up their magnificent 6-0 romp over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend with a 4-2 win over Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday evening.

Masta Nastasic is set to miss the next three weeks with a calf injury, while the game has come too soon for fellow centre back and club captain Vincent Kompany.

Top scorer Sergio Aguero is favourite to open the scoring at a price 4.0 (3/1) with a variety of firms, ahead of 5.0 (4/1) chance Alvaro Negredo.

City are odds on to take all three points, with a number of bookmakers offering odds of 1.3 (3/10), with Swansea as highly priced as the 13/0 (12/1) from Bet 365, who have the draw at 6.0 (5/1).

Michael Laudrup’s men were narrowly beaten by Valencia on Thursday evening, having beaten Fulham at Craven Cottage last time out in the league.

Striker Wilfried Bony misses out here, and is likely to be out for several weeks after picking up a hamstring injury in the Swans midweek defeat, while Angel Rangel is also side-lined though Wayne Routledge is available.

Alvaro Vazquez is 15.0 (14/1) with Bet 365 to get the first goal of the game, ahead of Jonjo Shelvey and Pablo Hernandez, who are both priced at 23.0 (22/1) with Bet Victor.

A Carlos Tevez goal was enough to separate the sides in last season’s corresponding fixture, while the teams played out a 0-0 draw when the sides met in South Wales in May.

In fact, the last three matches have featured fewer than two goals, but with the hosts in such rampant form at home, a low scoring affair appears unlikely.

You may prefer to take advantage of the 4.33 (10/3) on offer from Coral for City to score at least four goals as they have in four of their six home league games so far this season.
